This Giving Tuesday, Join the Fight Against Child Sexual Abuse

NOV. 3, 2021 — One in five children is sexually abused before the age of 18. To Kirstynn Evans, this wasn’t just a statistic, it was her reality. Her abuse first happened at age four and continued until she was 12. For decades she carried her secret of abuse quietly tucked away. She finally broke her silence when she learned that children close to her were at high risk of being abused.

By sharing her story, Kirstynn felt empowered to start moving forward on her own healing journey and took action to protect the children she loved. She attended The Younique Foundation’s educational healing retreat in Utah, where she launched her life “into something more beautiful, more creative, more colorful, more joyous, and more hopeful than I could have ever imagined.”

She also started her own business Nora’s Macarons in Litchfield Park, Arizona, which blossomed out of a hobby she shared with her daughter. As Kirstynn’s business grew, she prioritized “paying it forward” in the fight against child sexual abuse. “As I pay it forward, it’s ultimately continuing the healing cycle,” she said.

The Younique Foundation, a nonprofit based in Utah and Georgia, is committed to the eradication of child sexual abuse and its traumatic impacts. “We exist to support people like Kirstynn — by providing free healing services for survivors, prevention resources for parents, and advocacy tools that can help create change across communities,” said Executive Director Chris Yadon.

Such change is made possible through events like Giving Tuesday, a global day of charitable giving which falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year. It’s a day that encourages people to kick off the holiday season by giving back to a cause that is important to them.

During the month of November, The Younique Foundation is asking the public to join its fight against child sexual abuse by taking action and making a donation to help fight this pandemic. This opportunity crescendos on Giving Tuesday set for Nov. 30.

“We need your help to liberate individuals and society from the epidemic of child sexual abuse,” said Yadon. “When you donate, 100% of your gift will go directly to healing and prevention services.”

The public can donate throughout November here. Ongoing monthly donations are also encouraged. A $20 donation provides therapeutic healing materials; a $50 donation educates a parent online;  a $200 donation funds a class in the community; and a $2,500 donation covers the cost of an adult female survivor attending The Haven Retreat.
