Foundation Focused on Mental Health Education During October

The Younique Foundation is focused on mental health education this month. On Sunday, Oct. 10, the Foundation will be take part in World Mental Health Day with global charities who offer mental health resources as part of their missions.

This World Mental Health Day, a collective group of philanthropists who are supporting charities who offer mental health of underserved and communities around the world.

A website, kokorochange.com/mental-health-care-for-all, will go live Sunday, Oct. 10. The organization is also unveiling billboards about its website and charities in Times Square.

The Younique Foundation is committed to empowering adult female survivors of child sexual abuse throughout the world. One in four women is a survivor of child sexual abuse and these women often spend decades trying to overcome the trauma of the abuse they endured as children.

Experiencing sexual trauma at a young age, oftentimes at the hands of an acquaintance of family member can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, and hopelessness for years after the abuse has stopped. Survivors experience at least one diagnosable mental health disorder by age 30. Survivors are three times more likely to attempt suicide. Survivors are five times more likely than the general population to be hospitalized for a physical or mental health problem.

The Foundation, which offices in Utah and Georgia, exists to help survivors navigate their healing journeys through a free retreat experience, educational online resources, and community-based support groups. In addition to supporting survivors, the Foundation is committed to reducing the risk of child sexual abuse by educating parents and caregivers through community and online resources.

Through its brand, Defend Innocence, it advocates for open discussions and social awareness around the topic of child sexual abuse. Free online resources can be found at youniquefoundation.org or defendinnocence.org.
