SAFE Coalition Hosts 4th Annual Symposium at Utah Valley University to Advance the Fight Against Child Sexual Abuse
Orem, UT – October 7, 2025 –The SAFE Coalition brought together community leaders, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and advocates from across Utah for the 4th Annual SAFE Symposium at Utah Valley University. With one shared purpose—to end child sexual abuse—the event united diverse voices to drive bold conversations and actionable solutions.
Individuals gathered in the Sorensen Center Grande Ballroom to learn, collaborate, and commit to strategies that will help protect the next generation. The symposium featured an inspiring lineup of keynote speakers, including Utah Attorney General Derek Brown and Rabbi Avremi Zippel, who each emphasized the urgent need for prevention, education, and survivor support.
Also featured were Deondra Brown, who spoke courageously about her personal journey and her advocacy for child protection, and Cara Dalquist, who highlighted community-based prevention strategies and the importance of supporting survivors in every stage of healing.
“The symposium is more than a conversation—it’s a movement,” said Matt Hartvigsen, Executive Director at Saprea. “By coming together, we are not only raising awareness but creating concrete plans to strengthen communities, educate caregivers, and ultimately prevent abuse.”
The day’s sessions included keynote addresses, updates shared by the SAFE Coalition, and collaborative workshops where participants worked side by side to develop ideas that will be translated into further action plans.
