Commonly Asked Questions

Is the Saprea Retreat really free?
Yes, the Saprea Retreat is free thanks to the generosity of our donors. You will never receive a bill for attending the Saprea Retreat or for any of our other resources. The only cost that participants are responsible for is travel to and from the pick-up locations for the in-person experience.

If the retreat is free to participants, how are you funded?
Saprea is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charity. We are funded by a combination of public and private donations from foundations, private corporations, grants, and individual donors.

How soon can I attend the retreat after I complete my application?
Once your application is submitted, you’ll receive an email to schedule a call with a member of our intake team. Depending on the number of applications, this call may be scheduled within one to six weeks. After your phone call, you’ll be able to select a retreat date based on availability and what works best for your schedule.

Will I have to talk about my abuse?
No, you are not required to share the story of your abuse. Some participants may choose to share, and if they do, we ask they share only broad points and not specific details of the abuse.

I am concerned that I will be trafficked, will this happen?
No, we ensure the highest level of safety for participants at the Saprea Retreat. The retreat's location is kept private for the safety of our survivors, and there is no cell service due to its location. Landline phones are made available for you to check in with loved ones during the retreat.
